Membership in the NDP

 As a member you can play a full part in your local riding association You can choose delegates to provincial and federal conventions and you can draft and submit policy resolutions through your local association for consideration at these conventions. You may be elected by your association as a convention delegate and you may be chosen to sit on provincial or area councils.

Annual Membership is $25 - $5 for those not gainfully employed.

Sustaining Members make automatic monthly contributions to the NDP through their chequing account or credit card. They get all the benefits of annual membership but Sustaining Members aren't sent regular mail appeals, do not receive renewal notices in the mail, never lapse and receive special updates from the Leader and the President.

Remember - with either membership you'll get 75% back on your income tax return of what you give over the year. $20/month adds up to $240/year -you get back $180. The cost to you is just $60!

How Political Tax Credits Work 

For full details on how the Ontario Political tax credit system works, consult the Elections Ontario website here. What follows is a summary.

Political tax credits make donating easier and allow you to give more. When you give $200 you get back $150 on your income tax return. So it really only costs you $50. Both the Provincial and Federal Political Tax Credits are not a deduction against your income but a real credit against your tax payable. The credit is applied against the final tax payable line on your tax form. And now should your provincial tax credit exceed your provincial tax payable, the difference is payable to you.
