A Greener Economy = More Jobs

The NDP’s greener economy means more jobs and training for Renfrew County.

The NDP’s Sue McSheffrey promises job creation and training programs that promote greener opportunities for our local economy.

Too often we are told we must pick. We are told that we can have either a strong economy or a clean environment. Food on the table or clean air and water. But here in Renfrew County we’re beginning to see we aren’t getting either.

Renfrew County has suffered the loss of about 1,500 jobs in the last 3 years. Families are finding it harder and harder to make ends meet and our lakes aren’t getting any cleaner. The NDP recognizes that now more than ever there is the need for a responsible, step-by-step plan that creates jobs and cleans up the environment.

“Despite jobs lost in Renfrew County our community is resilient.” says Sue McSheffrey. By harnessing Canada’s natural resources—our land, water, wind, sun and human innovation—we can create whole new sectors of work.

The New Democrats: Putting You and Your Family First

The NDP are committed to supporting Renfrew County through:

• grants and training spaces for green-collar jobs
• new training partnerships with Provincial and Territorial Governments and with First Nations
• new labour market tools to measure needs and gaps in the new energy sector, so that recruitment and certification match up with trends and future needs
• expanded national green building and retrofit programs, including specific programming for low-income households
